Virtual number for TikTok Ads: can you use it without losing the account?

TikTok Ads has become a fixed part of advertising budgets, from small online stores to large brands. The platform is growing, competition inside ad accounts is getting tougher, and registration questions are becoming more important. One of the most common questions is still the same: can you use a virtual phone number for TikTok Ads, and what can it mean for the account?

Why TikTok Ads asks for a phone number

A phone number in TikTok Ads is not just a formality. TikTok for Business uses it as a working security element, and there are several reasons why the platform may request it:

  • Account login. Instead of a password, you may be able to sign in using an SMS code sent to the linked number.
  • Two-step verification. This is an additional login step. TikTok Ads supports three methods: SMS, email, and an authenticator app.
  • Security checks. The platform may periodically ask for verification, for example when you sign in from a new device, change geolocation, or show sudden changes in ad account activity.
  • Account recovery. If the password is lost or the account looks compromised, the phone number becomes one of the ways to prove that the account is really yours.

Losing access to the linked phone number can make it harder to sign in to the advertising account or recover it. This should be considered in advance.

Can you use a virtual number for TikTok Ads?

Technically, sometimes yes, but there are no guarantees

At the registration or verification stage, TikTok Ads may request a code sent to a phone number. A virtual number can sometimes receive that SMS code online, but this does not mean the platform will always accept a specific number or will not request additional checks later.

In Revosim, you can choose a number from the required country and receive the incoming SMS code in your personal dashboard. However, technical success during registration is not the same as long-term account stability: the final verification decision always remains on the TikTok Ads side.

Why “the account will not be banned” is not a promise anyone should make

TikTok Ads blocks and restrictions almost never have only one cause. The system analyzes a combination of signals: payments, creatives, landing page domain, registration country, login geolocation, activity history, and whether the product complies with platform policies.

The phone number is only one parameter. That is why no tool by itself can guarantee stable ad account operation.

When a virtual number is especially risky

The risk can be higher in several scenarios. If the number has already been used often for registrations, it may look less reliable for a new ad account. Frequent number changes on the same account are also undesirable.

A mismatch between the country of the number, the login geolocation, and the account settings creates an additional risk factor.
